Dive

I wrote some Infinite Poetry for Kym as a Valentine's Day card several years ago.  The poem sat around with nothing to do.  Then one day it said, "I need to get out more.  Would you please make a song out of me?"  So I obliged.  This song really needs a big voice with an orchestra and a choir behind it - not some guy with a guitar.  But unless someone from American Idol decides to record it, I guess I'm going to have to do it myself someday.

I could see
A world far beyond this terrain
You and me
Together we followed
The voice of a brand new refrain

We walked hand in hand
To where the edge of the world meets the sky
Said good-bye to land
Then took to the air – we believed we could fly

But our fragile wings failed us
We plummeted down
To the perilous sea far below
Our hopes were all scattered
Romantic dreams shattered
I heard the voice calling – it's time to let go

CHORUS
Time to dive to discover how deep love can go
Journeying down to the depths of love's ocean
Come give up your breath in the effort to know
Love's passion liqueur, this liquid emotion
Love fills you and beckons you further below
Emboldened and strengthened by love's potent potion
Now dive to discover how deep love can go – can go

Do I break free and reach for
The rocks on my own
Or stay here and struggle for air
The current grows stronger
We won't last much longer
And still the voice calls us – come dive if you dare

Come and dive to discover how deep love can go
Journeying down to the depths of love's ocean
Come give up your breath in the effort to know
Love's passion liqueur, this liquid emotion
Love fills you and beckons you further below
Emboldened and strengthened by love's potent potion
Now dive to discover how deep love can go – can go

In your eyes
I find the assurance to take the dive
Surprise
Whole worlds to explore for the rest of our lives

Now we dive to discover how deep love can go
Journeying down to the depths of love's ocean
We give up our breath in the effort to know
Love's passion liqueur, this liquid emotion
Love fills us and beckons us further below
Emboldened and strengthened by love's potent potion
We dive to discover how deep love can go...
